1988-98 OBS GM Truck Manual Master Cylinder Kit 20-110

Our Manual Brake Master cylinder kit utilizes a billet firewall mounting plate CNC'd from 6061 Aluminum. This plate is designed to utilize a Strange Engineering Mopar Dual Master Cylinder. This requires you to drill your brake pedal for the master cylinder pushrod Kit includes all hardware necessary, Strange Engineering Mopar Dual Master Cylinder.

  • 6:1 Pedal Ratio optimized for manual brakes
  • Billet Manual Master Cylinder Firewall Plate
  • Strange Dual Mopar Master Cylinder
  • Hardware for Installation
  • Brake Push Rod w/ Heim Joint for attaching to pedal
  • Fittings for Master Cylinder

*Note: Slight modification to existing bolt holes on firewall needed to accommodate brake plate. Additionally factory pedal assembly needs to be removed and studs going through firewall to hold factory master cylinder need to be removed from pedal assembly by cutting as bolts will be put in place*

Note: This kit improves the brake pedal ratio for use with manual brakes vs. power brakes.  While sharing the original bolt pattern, this requires you to modify the existing hole where the master cylinder goes through the firewall to accommodate the stronger ratio. 

***Note: Factory brake master cylinders typically connect at a 3-4:1 pedal ratio. This kit may require you to drill your brake pedal to achieve the correct pedal ratio for the master cylinder cylinder.

Note: Due to the difference in pedal travel based off of the required manual master cylinder ratio, brake light switch may require modification to work properly based off of pedal position.

Note: We recommend a 6-7:1 pedal ratio on all manual brake systems

1988-98 OBS GM Truck Manual Master Cylinder Kit 20-110

I was slightly disappointed on the fitment of this on my 1998 obs. R&D was done on an older obs and it was evident unfortunately. Hole location on the pedal didn’t work out. And you will need a new brake switch on the newer trucks. I used an fbody brake switch and had to cut the rod down. I was able to make it work, but it was essentially a universal kit.

Brake light switch will not work with this set up. The push rod will not extend long enough to give ANY braking AT ALL. Had to make an extension to get any brake pedal pressure. Once I finished ALL of the modifications just to get the kit to work the truck is not able to be driven. You literally have to step on the brake pedal with both feet to get the truck “just to slow down” forget about locking up tires! I have spent countless hours modifying parts to try and make this kit work and when all is said and done. Spend your money on something else. This kit is flawed for our OBS trucks. Someone is going to get hurt or worse killed!!
