Motion Raceworks Fox Body Mustang Lightweight Chromoly Steering Column is the answer for your race car light weight needs. This column utilizes American made and SFI parts to create a very safe and high quality column.
This column is professionally tig welded using Chromoly material for weight reduction. Bolting to factory mounts, installation is also a breeze. Incorporated in the design is a 1/8" firewall plate to add safety in fire protection and sealing from the engine bay in the result of an oil or fuel fire. All columns come powder-coated Gloss Black.
Our steering column utilizes a split collar locking design to secure the shaft from the bottom, along with a welded washer on top. This creates a safe option as opposed to press fit bearing options on the market that can heat up or work themselves loose, leaving drivers with a potentially dangerous situation.
This column comes standard with a Motion Raceworks 5/6 bolt SFI approved quick release installed and welded.
Add a Grant or MPI steering wheel, one of our very popular steering wheel buttons, and a u-joint to adapt the round shaft coming out to an aftermarket 3/4DD steering shaft. All hardware included.

Zero complaints. Well made and looks awesome. Using the round to DD u-joint allows you to get the steering wheel perfectly straight and the quick release adapter is the best I’ve ever used. Included fire wall plate and grommet are nice as well.

I hesitated to spend this much on a steering column. I'm a budget operation. But I liked Doug's install video ( he made some good points) and I am also a big El Toro fan! When I opened the box I knew I made a good choice. This is a super nice unit! Dont cut corners here. This is a complete package. Its powder coated and ready to install. I was lucky I already had double d shaft and u joints on my old set up. They sell a nice package if you dont allready have them.
Beautiful product!!! It weighed in 10.4 lbs lighter than the stock column and the craftsmanship is second to none!!! I will be buying one for my other Fox body race car!

Super excited about this looks great fits great easy to customize mounted my stock key switch and multi switch to the tube with some slight modifications to the steering wheel lock mechanism and the turn signal cancel switch. Easy install fits great!
The fit was amazing! Sits perfect for viewing gauges when wheel is on and I’m sitting in the kirkey. I had to cut 1.5” off the end to fit around my mod motor 2v, but motion gives you plenty of length to do so if needed. Definitely happy with my purchase, wish I ordered it sooner!
Bolted in great, spins free with no slop or play. Very happy with my purchase. Slight modifications required to use a 87 Saleen mustang wheel

Best steering column for a fox body out there
Great quality. I am one star short only because of the fitment for a taller driver. I am 6’3” and have a Sparco QTR seat. With the seat mounted as far back as I can get it, limited by the roll bar, the steering column placed the steering wheel on my legs. I made it work by modifying (cutting and welding) the column mount closest to the steering wheel and removing the spacers from the forward mount. Still a great product!
