This bolt-in light weight chromoly steering column for a 1970-81 2nd Gen Camaro / Firebird is just the answer for saving a considerable amount of weight on your Fbody Camaro or Firebird. Simply unbolt your column, and bolt this piece back in.
This column has been tested and works great whether you are using a factory or aftermarket race seat.
Uses factory mounts AND hardware for installation. This column comes fully tig welded, and is powdercoated gloss black. Included in Kit-Outer Column-3/4" Inner shaft-Retaining collar-(2) bushings. (Note: Uses factory nuts/bolts for mounting.)
This column comes standard with a Motion Raceworks 5/6 bolt pattern SFI approved quick release installed and welded.
Steering Box Connections:
Factory Steering Box -- Comes with 30 Spline U-joint to Double D Shaft (length of Double D Shaft may require trimming to fit), and Upper U-joint 3/4" Round to 3/4 DD.
To Connect to an aftermarket Flaming River / Pinto style rack you will need the following items.

This thing has made my Camaro even more of an autocross monster. Removing the rag joint let me open up the full potential of my Borgeson quick ratio box. Only feedback I have is the lower U-Joint set bolt runs the engines cross member. I got a 5/16 flat hex head and used lock tite to keep it in place. Easy fix but figured I’d share.

This column and secondary shaft fit the bill perfectly! Bolted right in using the factory mounts as advertised. The racecar is ready for the track!

I love the column and the quick release hub! It is so much nicer than the spline one I used to have. Makes it so nice not having to put the wheel on and off a handful of times to get it aligned with the front tires like with the splined one. I can’t comment on the fit of the column because I have a 79’ Nova and ordered the 2cd gen Camaro column cause it looked the closest to mine. So I figured I’d have some fab work to do, but as far as how close it was to my car, not very. The angle of the fire wall plate was dif, and the dash mount about an inch low. Was no fault of the product or your company it’s just that my Nova was quite a bit different than the Camaro. All in all I love it and is a welcome addition to my race car. 😎

First off, the folks at Motion were very helpful, answering all my question about the steering column and some brake questions I had. Product arrived quickly. Seems to be very high quality. Have not installed it yet.

Another true 5 Star product. Super well made, very light, plug and play. I literally couldn’t believe it bolted up without issue. First time on this multi year build that has happened. Wish it came with hardware but probably not worth the effort for these guys. A trip to the hardware store is easy enough.
